Vernon H. Rhames, 67, of Jacksonville, Florida, went to be with Jesus on Friday, March 10, 2017. He was born in Missouri on January 15, 1950. Vernon graduated from Neosho High School. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force, and retired from the United States Postal Service where he worked in various positions, the last being as an Emergency Preparedness manager. A man of strong Christian faith, Vernon was a member of Riverside Park United Methodist Church, where he had served in the role of chair on many committees over the past...

Vernon H. Rhames, 67, of Jacksonville, Florida, went to be with Jesus on Friday, March 10, 2017. He was born in Missouri on January 15, 1950. Vernon graduated from Neosho High School. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force, and retired from the United States Postal Service where he worked in various positions, the last being as an Emergency Preparedness manager. A man of strong Christian faith, Vernon was a member of Riverside Park United Methodist Church, where he had served in the role of chair on many committees over the past 20 years, was the president of United Methodist Men, taught small group Bible studies, was a liturgist, and a certified lay speaker. He had a passion for fishing, gardening, and barbeque.

Vernon is survived by his wife, Dorsey-Ann Rhames, his daughters, Emily Stomps (married to Jim) and Elizabeth Wyatt (married to Mitch), and his grandchildren, Hannah Stomps, Brock Stomps, and Camden Wyatt.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, March 18th, at Riverside Park United Methodist Church, 819 Park Street, Jacksonville, Florida 32204.
