Mary Rose Lyons Whisenant, 67, of Jacksonville, FL, passed away peacefully on June 9th, 2017 at her home while surrounded by family.

Mary was born in Jacksonville, FL on February 2, 1950. She graduated from Paxon Senior High School, class of 1968, and continued on to attend college at the former Florida Junior College taking classes in Business and Clerical Skills.

Mary was the beloved wife of Arnold Whisenant for 45 years. They were married on November 12, 1971 at St. John the Divine Greek Orthodox Church. Mary was a homemaker, but...

Mary Rose Lyons Whisenant, 67, of Jacksonville, FL, passed away peacefully on June 9th, 2017 at her home while surrounded by family.

Mary was born in Jacksonville, FL on February 2, 1950. She graduated from Paxon Senior High School, class of 1968, and continued on to attend college at the former Florida Junior College taking classes in Business and Clerical Skills.

Mary was the beloved wife of Arnold Whisenant for 45 years. They were married on November 12, 1971 at St. John the Divine Greek Orthodox Church. Mary was a homemaker, but also worked various part time secretarial jobs until her illness worsened in 2002. She enjoyed shopping, especially for her grandchildren, cooking and watching cooking shows, exercising, relaxing at the beach, and attending church; but mostly she enjoyed spending time with her family. She was a member of Lakeshore Church of Christ.

Mary is survived by her husband, Arnold Whisenant, daughter, Angela (Jason) DuBois, son, Jahn Whisenant, and brothers, Farris (Jane) Lyons, Gamal (Connie) Lyons, Ghassan (Judy) Lyons, and Richard Lyons; grandchildren, Blaine, Ava, and Macy DuBois. She also leaves to cherish her memory, stepchildren, Layne Noble and Kelly Wright, step-grandchildren, multiple nieces and nephews and their children.

Mary is preceded in death by her parents, Salmo and Souraya Lyons, and brother Edward Lyons.

Visitation will be held June 13th, 2017 at Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home at 729 Edgewood Ave South from 6pm-8pm. The funeral service will be held at Lakeshore Church of Christ at 1796 Old Middleburg Road North on June 14th, 2017 at 2pm. Minister Jimmy Haynes of Lakeshore Church of Christ will be officiating. Burial will follow the funeral at Jacksonville Memorial Gardens in Orange Park, FL. Arrangements are under the care of Hardage-Giddens, 729 Edgewood Ave. S., Jacksonville FL 32205.
