FRY, James Thomas, Jr. (Jim), 87, went to be with the Lord on November 24, 2016. He was born July 22, 1929 in Detroit, Michigan, and moved to Knoxville, Tennessee where he lived until moving to Jacksonville in 1963. He attended the University of Tennessee, and served in the US Navy.

He retired from Duplex Products (formerly Lewis Business Forms) in 1992, and soon returned to the work force and retired again in 2004 from Fiserv Corporation. He was an active member of the Murray Hill Presbyterian Church, serving as an elder, Sunday...

FRY, James Thomas, Jr. (Jim), 87, went to be with the Lord on November 24, 2016. He was born July 22, 1929 in Detroit, Michigan, and moved to Knoxville, Tennessee where he lived until moving to Jacksonville in 1963. He attended the University of Tennessee, and served in the US Navy.

He retired from Duplex Products (formerly Lewis Business Forms) in 1992, and soon returned to the work force and retired again in 2004 from Fiserv Corporation. He was an active member of the Murray Hill Presbyterian Church, serving as an elder, Sunday School teacher, and Sunday School Superintendent. In 2007, he was elected Elder Emeritus. He spent many years as a tutor for the Learn to Read program and taught English as a second language to foreign students. He also worked as an umpire for the Jacksonville Recreation Department, and was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James Thomas Fry, Sr. and Alice M. Fry; a brother, Bob Fry; a son, Rick Fry; and a daughter, Melody Jones.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Shirley R. Fry; a son and daughter-in-law, Chuck and Candie Fry; seven grandchildren: Tim Fry (Katie), Craig Fry (Kristen), Christa Tyson (Ryan), Catie Fry, Jimmy Jones, Jason Jones (Whitney), and Aaron Jones; two great-granddaughters, Ava and Makaila Fry; a great-grandson, Thomas Fry; and a brother, Dr. David M. Fry (Debbie) of Atlanta.

The family will receive friends at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, November 28, 2016, followed by the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. at the Murray Hill Presbyterian Church, 940 Talbot Ave., Jacksonville FL 32205. Rev. Dr. Merlin Conrad and Rev. Dr. David Fry will officiate. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Burial will follow at Jacksonville Memory Gardens, 111 Blanding Blvd., Orange Park FL 32073. Arrangements are under the care of Hardage Giddens, 729 Edgewood Ave. S., Jacksonville FL 32205. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be given to the Murray Hill Presbyterian Church.
